MAYGARITAVILLE ~Wilson Lake, Alabama
After many years taking numerous vacations to tropical destinations like Freeport, Nassau, Paradise Island in the Bahamas and Key Largo, Key West, and Miami in the states, I wondered how I could have the relaxed feeling I experience on vacations year round. Thus, I came up the with the idea for Maygaritaville, a place where I could go to relax and have that tropical feeling at home on Wilson Lake, Alabama. After much thought and many beers, the concept of a combination Tiki bar, Beach bar, and Marina bar with a Mardi Gras theme was the foundation for my tropical retreat. I needed a name for this retreat and came up with my last name May merged with margaritaville to form Maygaritaville. With the concept and name in place, I designed and built Maygaritaville in August 2007 on my pier using a strong influence of Key West architecture and color. The décor is a combination tropical island and Mardi Gras theme with all items obtained from yard sale and/or thrift store finds. Maygaritaville is fun and lets me have that tropical feeling year round that I used to only get when I was on vacation. Maygaritaville is having the same effect on my family, friends and the boaters on Wilson Lake. Paradise is not a distance destination, you can find it anywhere, like we found in Maygaritaville. ~Warren, Melinda, and David May |
